Another nice project finished by the Landscaping Team in early August. This one really is a massive transformation - Patio repair and re-point - New Lawn - Boarder cleared and stone edge rebuild - New Sandstone Step(s) and a simple Gate repair. Well done Team 👍

As you can see, our experienced Gardeners are not scared to get stuck in. We always have one eye on the future when cutting back shrubs.

Well what a day. Lauren and I have got this Composite Decking job 95% done and on our way home, we nearly got squashed by a massive tree 😱. Poor guy in a skip lorry took the hit for us. He was fine, if a little shaken. Someone is watching over us 🥰

Well this little project has tested us every step of the way. 42 days, tons of materials in and tons of waste out. Changes to the original design, due to unforeseen issues but we got there in the end. Well done Team, you've done yourselves proud 👏

So we are getting there slowly, I finished the Decking outside the Log Cabin today and have started the Composite Deck surround for the Hot Tub. Also I'm pleased to announce the Pool is full (before the hosepipe ban) and our Deck is taking the strain 😁

Ok so here we have one of the largest Decks we have ever built, certainly on one level. 15.5m long by 5m wide. There was an added complication of an existing Gazebo which we also decked out 'inside and out'. This Deck is also one of the strongest and most reinforced we have ever built with 150 - 200 leg supports, bolted and screwed. This is because of the massive swimming pool that is now resting upon it. 💪💪. Thanks to all who helped me with this 🥵

We are well into the Summer Season now and it's Hot Hot Hot 🥵 but it will take more than a few sunny days to stop our teams from producing some stunning work. As you can see, we're looking after some wonderful gardens and some are rather large! Keep up the good work RHGS. 😎

Another nice Log Cabin Build recently completed. We built a reinforced Timber Base and installed floor and Roof Insulation. The shingles and guttering really finish off the look nicely. Well done ME 😁 and Russell

Something a little different this week, we are so lucky to be working along side our wonderful british wildlife. Sometimes we just have to stop for a moment and enjoy it. So Stag Beetle's are on the move in May/June, look out for them, they are endangered and RED Frogs, first time I've ever seen one of those 😱

So as promised, here's an update on one of our current projects in May 2023. The Batten Fence is now complete and the Concrete Hot Tub base has been cast. Once the HT arrives we can start to build the Composite Deck Surround. You'll see we have taken great care to protect the Driveway, Path and Lawn from damage and Concrete spills. This is so important to us. Well done Team... and Me 😁

So we're currently 5 days into this great Landscaping project for a lovely family: Concrete Hot Tub Base - Composite Deck Surround - Contemporary Batten Fencing - Decking for a Swimming Pool - Cabin Base and Log Cabin build - Step Stone Path and sometime in August - French Drains as this garden suffers from standing water due to Clay Soil. What a project. I will be posting updates as we progress....

So this is 2 weeks of Grass Growth. This wet and warm May is an absolute nightmare for us gardeners. Respect 💪

I can't explain how difficult this project was. Our Landscape Team were nothing short of heroic, completing this to such a high standard. We retro fitted Glass and Timber Railings, repaired the main Deck and re-built the steps and created a nice bespoke storage area. We are very good at this type of work but sometimes we do wonder why we take them on. 🤷😁

So here is another one of our most recent Patio Projects (April/May 2023). This project has been run by The A Team (Zoe & Steve). The curves and shapes have been skillfully cut using just a 9" Angle Grinder and to the Customers specification. Well done guys 👏

Here is one of our latest Patio Projects. This one is Porcelain and it was laid by yours truly. The groundwork was done by the Team. We also took down an old brick wall and fitted a new T&G Gate and Side Panel.

We recently had the opportunity to purchase another van. While we don't buy New Van's we do try to keep our vehicles looking smart. So this one will eventually replace one of our older vans. At the moment we have a fleet of 7 vehicles, which means we can handle Gardening Projects of any size.

While the Gardening Teams are producing some high quality work, let's not forget the Landscapers. The team are doing some brilliant work out there and not all jobs are big projects. Here's an example of the other skills we have. Re-setting a loose Curb Stone. This one was a trip hazard.

So here we have another one of our yearly hedge trims although this one sometimes goes 2 years. It's a mature Beech Hedge and is a lot more awkward to cut than these pics show, especially with the Green House right in the corner. Well done Team Liam and Emily. 👍

Here are some more pics of the Hedging work we do on a twice yearly basis. There's roughly 180m of hedging on this job and a lot of it is cut using ladders or a Scaffold Tower for extra safety. Luckily this customer owns their own Tower. Well done team Dave & Sophie 👍

I am a little guilty of not showcasing the great work of my gardening Teams. These Conifer hedges have been looked after by us for 8 years now and they've never looked better. Well done Dave and Sophie.

Another interesting and bespoke project. A large Rabbit Hutch built to the customers specifications and totally from scratch. This one took me about 4 days from start to finish.

As you can see, another lovely Log Cabin project. This one is almost there, just the floor and Felt Shingles to go. This is part of a much bigger project, we've cleared this end of the garden, trees, sheds, greenhouse etc etc. We also installed the Timber Base for the Cabin and supplied and fitted a gate and a bespoke built Compost Heap made from Pallets. Well done team, you've worked hard 💪

This is the latest Van to join our growing fleet! The sharp eyed among you will notice a subtle name change... This is the new Company that has steadily grown in the background over the past 10+ years. Our Landscaping Team have been busier than ever since the first Covid lock down and have earned their stripes. Although RH Gardening services had always done a dozen or more specialist landscaping projects annually, we now find ourselves booked weeks/months in advance. So this year we have decided to separate the businesses and we hope you approve. There's not much we won't do in your garden, so please do ask.

Another Artificial Grass Job. This was for the same customer as our previous post! We levelled the garden off using Timber Sleepers and 9 Tons of aggregate.

So we were asked back to retro fit some Privacy Panels (to our customers fence). First of all, make sure you own the fence before doing anything like this. Secondly, make sure the panels and posts can take the extra weight. This has worked out very nicely.

This was a nice little project that i was able to Start and Complete on my own. Bit of a wasted corner of the garden which catches the last of the day's sunshine, can now be enjoyed.

So here's a little Project I recently completed. The Gate was made from scratch and built to fit the space. I have extended the frame of the gate to the full height and cut into it to fit the Trellis. First time I've done this and it worked very well.

Garden Furniture sanded and treated. Finally finished the right hand side boarder. BBQ cleaned and seating put out, all ready for the 1st Party of the year 🌞😎🍻🍾

Here we have our latest Decking Project. We have moved at least 3 tons of earth by hand to sink this deck level with the lawn. The outside timbers have been wrapped with plastic sheet to protect them. An excellent job completed by the Team.

This is a 6m long x 1m high x 1.6m deep Sleeper Planter/Bench. We have use 40... Yes '40' 3m long Sleepers to construct this. Set on a shallow concrete foundation and plastic lined. We estimate 2.5 Tons of soil to fill it. Just some plants to go.

What a day! Well i suppose it is still February

One of our biggest projects to date. We estimate over 20 tons of aggregates, top soil, turf, timber and paving brought in for this job. The end result is a 7m x 8.5m Artificial Grass area. New soft wood Decking, Indian Sandstone Patio and path, with a new lawn surround. What you can't see is a Yew Tree that was dug up/out by hand, an imprinted concrete patch on the existing patio and 18 days of hard work. Well done team, you've done a great job. Thank you.

We've built quite a few of these ponds over the years. I decided it was time i had one. This design of pond is ideally suited to Koi and the 'half in the ground half out' option makes the job easier to do (less digging) and makes it safer for young children. We often add heavy duty Trellis, so there's never any possibility of an accident, also keeps the fish safe from Heron attack.

So this is what happens when you leave Bamboo unchecked! When ever you can, please try to contain this plant. This job was actually turned down by a so called Specialist Bamboo and Knottweed removal company. As you can see, we lifted the paving dug a trench and fitted a bespoke Bamboo Control barrier. This area is an alleyway between our customers garden and his neighbours. We also removed risomes/roots from the neighbors garden and relaid the paving. What a job 🥵

Yet another unique job for RH Gardening... This customer wanted a Natural Pond area in one corner of their Paddock. So using a Mini Digger we dug out 3 holes, hand finished to fit the exact shapes of the 3 Preformed Pond Liners, levelled and filled with water.

What a difference our new Tipper vehicle has made to our lives and the service we can provide our customers. No more squeezing green waste into our vans or over loading our trailers. 👏

Here we have a pair of hand built Sleeper Planters, complete with carefully chosen plants. The idea is to break up the view down the garden without completely blocking it out. We may well Stain these to blend in the different grain colours.

Another little job from late 2021. We have found a really good supplier of reasonably priced sheds with great build quality. This one is for an allotment, which is why we've put it on a semi permanent base made from Pallets.

Well it was a busy year. This was our last project in 2021. Timber Picket Fence & Gate with Artificial Grass for a Play Area. New Rustic brick planter, Corner Bench with Fan design Pergola and 60m2 of Turf.

Koi Pond construction, the work that went into this is hard to put into words. 3 feet deep into the ground and 2 feet built up with treated timber sleepers with a 20 year life rubber pond liner. We estimate that 3 tons of earth was dug and removed by hand on this 6ft by 8ft pond job.

Hay Harvest again this year. One of our existing customers (8 years and counting) The bailers started at 1pm and we had 1450 Hay Bails in by 6.30pm. 3 of us only for the first 3 hours. If you've never done this type of work, you won't appreciate how hard it is. Respect for all Farmers.

This was a tough day, 8 hours of hedging and tree work. We filled the Tipper Truck to the top. All waste had to be taken through the house (not ideal).

Bamboo Screen job for an existing customer. Treated timber batten's attached to the customers fence (always get permission if you do not own the fence) and make sure the fence posts can take the extra weight.

A good days Jet Washing yesterday. The treatment we used took 2 hours off the usual time and the sandstone has come up like new. This patio is over 20 years old. This is what you get for good maintenance #jetwashing #jetwash

It's a proud moment in the company's history. Both my daughters will be out helping their dad tomorrow flying the RHGS flag.

Another bespoke built Garden Room/Office. Hand built on a treated timber base. Insulated and ply lined. This one has a foldable hand built desk.

This was a massive Strimming job we did 2nd week of June, during the 30° heat wave 🥵. Zoe looking glamourous as usual 🤪 in her ppe...

Another nice project we have been lucky enough to do. Lovely customer and great access to the garden (which always helps). We used RJS Gardens 'Digger and Driver' Hire, who did a fantastic job for us, will definitely use again. Another happy customer.

So here we have some pics from one of our longest standing Estate Customers, The Manor House in Bexley village.

It's been a while since we have fitted an Arris Rail Featheredge fence. As usual we get an awkward one. Paths, walls, concrete foundations, tree stumps and roots, all sent to try us but we prevail as always. Well done team.... and me 😁

Another nice project completed in April. An unused terraced area, made accessable with new steps and safe with Timber Post, Hand Rails and stainless wire inserts. The paving is Raj Blend Indian Sandstone and we also built a full length 'L' shape timber planter. Finally we painted the Fencing, Steps and Round Timber supports and fitted a new Slide for the children.

So this is one of our most recent jobs. We've all worked really hard on this one. 64 Square Metres of Sunset Buff Sandstone. Large pond filled with crazy paving and 3 tons of type 1 aggregate for 'blinding'. Zoe and I managed to get all the pointing done in a day, that's not bad going!

Well we don't get to build natural nature ponds nearly often enough. I think that all gardens should have a water feature of some sort in them. Great for nature health and well being. Please always consider safety, especially where young children are concerned. So this pond is roughly 3m in circumference and only 60cm at it's deepest point (no need for deeper in natural ponds) dug out and shaped by hand 🥵. Lined with offcuts of artificial grass and this one has a lifetime epdm rubber butyl liner. Finished off with decorative rocks and slate, with cobbles and pebbles for contrast. Finally some sympathetic planting to soften the look. Time will be this ponds friend, as it will look more natural as the years pass. #naturalponds

So this corner bench with planters is part of a bigger garden project we started just over a week ago. We have designed the planters so they can easily turn into a table. There's no Patent Pending, so feel free to steel the design 😁. #gardenfurniture

Just a little Picket fence and matching gate we supplied and fitted last week. Making the garden safe for a 1 year old.

Well here's another one of our most recent bespoke built garden building projects. This one houses a 6m long Swim Spa and is designed to keep the worst of the winter out but let the best of the summer in. We have two 3m x 2.5m openings at each end of the front view, with retractable horizontal blinds. We also fitted removable clear Acrilic windows and treated 'spaced' battens to allow steam and hot air out, keeping the interior damp free. With the addition of interior and exterior lighting, this building would look good in any garden. #gardenbuilding #gardenbuildings

Well here we are again, first post of 2021 and we're in Lockdown'. We have a lot to be thankful for in our business, social distancing is not a problem, as you can see, just us and the gardens. Stay safe people 🤞

So today I supplied and fitted a really nice Stainless Steel 'Wood Effect' hand rail. Great design, well engineered and fitted with care!

Another nice garden transformation. Designed and built by RHGS, Artificial Lawn, Sandstone Paving and a new Pond with a 'Blade' water feature, new pressurized filter and bespoke built Pergola. Another Happy Customer.

It's been a while since I was last 15+ feet off the ground. It's typical that I chose a day to work on my own in 30° heat.

So this Pergola is the final part of our most recent project (Fencing/ Paved Path & Steps). The team have once again surpassed mine and the customers expectations. Well done Zoe and Perry.

Nice little job for a lovely couple in Orpington. We've already completed the fencing, now well on the way to completing the new steps and path. Just a new Pergola to build and a sail shade to fit. Well done team, great work as always 😍

So this is another project I thought worthy of my Instagram account. Never one to shy away from the awkward or unusual, this one ticks both boxes! Other than the initial clearance and half a days help from Lauren (which was great), I managed this all on my own 😁. Total project time was only 4 days but I have now got a bad back!

Well as you can see, I/we've been very busy recently. We removed the old shed, laid a new paving slab base and supplied and fitted this new 5x7 apex shed with windows and single door. This is a Budget range shed but does the job quite nicely.

So that's it, final bits finished today, table top sanded and oiled, bench seat back fitted and oiled the entire bench. Another happy customer. 😁

Yet another testing little decking job built on the top terrace of this sloped garden. Tree's and shrubs cut down and removed. Ground cut back, decking laid including a 7m long bench seat, new fence panels hand built at each end and a bespoke set of steps with hand rail. This was otherwise an unusable area of the garden now transformed by RHGS excellent Landscaping Team.

So this project has moved on a bit since my last post. Roof on, end wall fitted and bespoke built 'L' shape bench with 'new' scaffold board table.

Well it's been a while since my last post, so I thought this little project was worth showing. This will eventually have a roof and will provide a nice shaded seating area. It actually looks ok as it is.

First cut and tidy of this garden for 2020, we were a bit late but we soon got it back looking at it's best. One of my oldest jobs, 14 years and counting.

Another great job completed by the Landscape Team. Indian Sandstone (Autumn Blend) laid on an old concrete slab reinforced with steel mesh. Steps rebuilt with recessed man hole cover and 3 existing concrete steps fully clad to match. Well done Perry & Zoe.

This is a job we completed in December 2019. Part of a larger project which included front and rear garden re-turf + Limestone Patio. The front garden was cleared including an 18ft tall Conifer tree cut down and the root dug out..by hand.

This was an interesting project. A wasted corner of the garden with the added complication of an old Oak Tree. So we built around it. Fully insulated and ready to use as a garden office, gym or just storage. #RHGSgardenrooms

Well it's been a while since my last post. I thought this job was worth sharing, shame I didn't take some before pics but we are really pleased with the result some 12 man hours of hard work by the team.

Fed up with your tired looking old fence? No need to remove the old panels. As long as your posts are in good condition we can build this modern new look for you with no fuss. The timber is treated so will last as long as any traditional fence panel.

This was an interesting project, an unwanted pond turned into a safe children's Bark Play Area.

We built this Dragon Pergola 4 years ago. It was a kit that we extended to fit the space. Roses and Climbers planted and have done really well.

Another fence repair and panel replacement due to the recent high winds. RHGS to the rescue.

Lawn Aeration this week with perfect conditions. This machine made quick work of a 1/4 acre lawn. Physically hard work but worth it for the results.

We built this Pergola last year, without the side panels. They have just been fitted this week. A nice affordable addition.
